Equality Impact Assessments

The DAAT strives to ensure that the services commissioned will create a treatment system that has fair access for all people regardless of race, age, religion, ethnic or economic background.  In order to do this Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) are undertaken for each area that is commissioned.

EQIAs are structured pieces of work that individually examine the impact of a service against thematic 'strands':

Gender

Age

Ethnicity

Sexual Orientation

Disability

Religion

By looking at what data is available on past uptake, the results of community consultations and local demographic data the EQIAs build a picture of any known gaps in provision and predict any unforeseen issues that the proposed service structure may have on any strand.
