Alcohol Awareness Week: 14-20- November 2011

   Minimize

National Alcohol Awareness Week is run every year as a way of getting people to reflect on how much they drink and what damage this may do to them and others.

In Sheffield, the Drug & Alcohol Action Team is working with partner agencies to organise activities to raise awareness of the harm alcohol can do and publicise information about where to get help.  These activities include:

  • a memorial service at the Cathedral on 16 November for those who have lost someone due to alcohol
  • Alcohol-free cocktail parties at several venues during the week
  • Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be out and about, engaging with young people and talking to them about safety issues around alcohol
  • Sheffield Futures are organising activities in youth clubs to publicise the safety messages around alcohol during the week

For more information about any of these activities, or about any of the work done in Sheffield to tackle harm caused by alcohol abuse, contact Sheffield Drug & Alcohol Action Team on 0114 273 6851 or email:
