This page is split into two sections: DAAT Targets and DIP Targets
1 - DAAT Targets
The Sheffield Drug and Alcohol Action Team is accountable to the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA), a specialist health authority set up by the Government in 2001 to oversee the implementation of the Governments ten-year Drug Strategy.
Every year, Sheffield DAAT sets its own targets, which we send to the NTA within our annual Treatment Plan (which are available on this website once the NTA have also published it on their own website). How we perform against these targets is a big influencer in how much budget we are allocated for the following year.
For 2008/9, our main targets have slightly changed. For this year, the targets are based on the activity of two different groups of drug users:
- ALL drug users over the age of 18 with ANY substance reported as their main problem substance
- ALL drug users over the age of 18 with any opiate (heroin, opium etc) or crack/cocaine reported as their main problem substance. This group of people are know as Problematic Drug Users (or the PDU for short)
Another change is that the emphasis is now on effective treatment. Last years count of numbers in treatment included those discharged under 12 weeks in an unplanned way. The new figure strips out these people, only looking at those who have spent longer than 12 weeks in treatment, or were discharged under 12 in a planned way
Our main targets therefore are found below. Be aware all figures are based on a rolling 12-month period which is backdated 3 months.
The figures cover the period 1st September 2008 to 31st August 2009
