The ambassador scheme involves ex-service users acting as evangelists for the Sheffield Treatment System, encouraging people who have not entered treatment or have had negative past experiences with treatment services to use the excellent services on offer.
One of the inherent problems with drug and alcohol treatment services is that once people have successfully passed through and got their lives back on track they do not return to their old associates. This means that for people trapped in the addiction cycle most of the people they will meet who have received treatment will have relapsed, and the real success stories do not get heard of amongst current drug and alcohol dependant people.
At present the Drug and Alcohol Action Team are not recruiting any ambassadors but if you would like to express an interest in becoming an advocate of treatment in Sheffield please contact our Service User Involvement Lead. In order to become an Ambassador you must have completed treatment at a Sheffield provider and be free from both illicit substance and alcohol problems.
If you have an event that would benefit from an Ambassador explaining what treatment has meant to them, and how it has benefited their life please contact our Service User Involvement Lead.
